Unitarians interpret the divine without a prescribed doctrine
Unitarians have no formal doctrines or creeds because we believe that there are many ways to access the divine and the spiritual uniting all of humanity.
Unitarians have a strong commitment to the universal values of love, justice and peace. Our faith informs our actions and helps us to reflect on the value and dignity of all people.
In the Unitarian world everyone works out what they want to believe. We originated from Christianity, but our values and beliefs are not bound to one faith or way of life.
Worship at our Lancashire Collaborative Ministry chapels (Padiham, Chorley, Rawtenstall), while it does not include a set liturgy, does have a structure which includes a time for prayer and reflection, singing and a spoken address - often times putting a faith perspective on current affairs with a time of fellowship after the service.

Each chapel has its own traditions, which help to deepen a person’s spiritual journey. Unitarianism is a denomination with a rich history founded in the 17th century to counter prescribed doctrine and to enable “a restoration to their undoubted rights as Protestants as interpreting scripture for themselves.”

The Unitarian services are usually themed, which allow the service leaders and the congregation to deepen their understanding of the address, hymns, and prayers.
Some of the themes from past services include:
·Freedom
·Forgiveness
·Hospitality to strangers

At the services the readings are not only taken from the bible, but from a variety of other sources, including other religions, philosophy and literature. Generally, this presents different perspectives to foster understanding and a deeper faith. Unitarianism aims to be a faith that one can draw upon in our daily lives as well as influencing our desire for compassion, justice and peace.
Fellowship and socialising are considered integral to building relationships and our faith. We often share meals together, especially after the Interfaith and Harvest services.
